Of all the ways to get better at golf, nothing beats old fashioned practice. The classic conundrum of course is how do you practice when you are at home and not that the range? If you have a nice net you can use real golf balls but what if you don't have one? How can you safely hit some balls without breaking anything? For that you need foam practice balls, and we found two types on Amazon worth a comparison. The Almost Golf balls and the Callaway HX Foam practice balls. First let's take a look at the listings on Amazon.
Below are the Almost Golf balls 10 pack. Currently on Amazon for $24.99 and it has a 4.6 star score on over 590 ratings.
Then you have the Callaway HX foam practice balls. We selected the 9 pack green for this blog entry. You can get it on Amazon for $13.99 and it has a 4.6 star score on over 2600 ratings.
Now just based on looks alone, it's hard to argue that Callaway does not have the edge here. Sure Almost Golf purports it self to be selling the best practice golf balls on the planet. The question is can that alone cover a pretty big price difference in the two products. Granted you do the one extra ball (10 compared to 9) with the Almost Golf balls. For us, in order to not give the nod to Callaway we would need to see some kind of serious problem in the ratings.
Which we did not. We rant the listing through Review Meta and it came back as a full pass. So in a world where the score is the same and there is more ratings to base it off of, we don't see any reason why we can't give the edge to the Callaway HX. After all we are an under $20 blog, and our whole job is to find under $20 options that can provide the same kind of quality that more expensive options can provide.
