Sometimes big things come in small packages. When it comes to bluetooth speakers you would be surprised the kind of sound punch you can get from something very small. Case in point, EWA has two speakers in their line up, the a106 and the a109. Both are small speakers meant to be portable yet at the same time put out good sound. The a106 is under $20 and the a109 is just over $20. So is the one under $20 better than the one over $20? Well let's take a little bit of a deeper look and see what we can figure out.
First let's start with the a106. Currently going for $17.59 on Amazon and it has a 4.5 star score on over 42,000 ratings.
Next we have the a109. Currently going for $22.99 on Amazon and it has a 4.5 star score on over 1,400 ratings.
Just based on what we can see on face, the a106 at the very least appears to be the more popular item. Just on the amount of ratings alone it smashes the a109. Not only that the price is better. Also the a106 is waterproof which is pretty cool and the a109 is not. So what gives? Was the a016 just around longer? Possibly, but according to Amazon the listings happened around the same year. So it tends to look like the a109 just couldn't get any buzz going around it.
There is some speculation that the a109 is a bit better quality in the sound. While the a106 is meat to be more for travel. To go deeper into that we found a video on YouTube that compares the sound quality. We included it below.
While it does sound like to us that the a109 does have a bit better sound quality, it's hard to ignore how much the a106 has going for it. While it is recommended that the a109 is better for bedroom and living room use while the a106 is better for travel and bathroom, we see no reason why the a106 can't make the cross over. If you're going to buy a mini speaker from EWA you might as well go with the a106, unless there is something specific about the a109's sound that is more your taste.
