Fender FT-1 vs FCT-2 Guitar Tuner: Which One Should You Go With? We Run A Quick Analysis

Clip on guitar tuners are cool. Yes you can use your phone, but there is something about having the clip on tuner that just makes life that much easier. There are plenty of different brands and types to choose from. We decided to run a quick analysis on two tuners that are actually under the same brand. The Fender FT-1 and the FCT-2. So before we get deeper into the analysis let's see the products in question. Side note if you are searching for a comparison of Fender ft1 vs ft2, there is a good bet these are the two tuners you are thinking of.

First we have the Fender FT-1 guitar tuner. Currently on Amazon for $9.99 and it has a 4.6 star score on over 8,300 ratings.

Then we have the Fender FCT-2 guitar tuner. Currently on Amazon for $19.99 and it has a 4.6 star score on over 15,000 ratings.

While the FCT-2 does have more ratings, the scores are pretty much a dead heat. Which leads us to the major difference between the two and that of course is the price. The FT-1 is half the price of the FCT-2. So the question now becomes, is there an extra $10 of value in the FCT-2 that would swing it in your favor.

When looking at the two items, the only clear difference on face is the digital interface. The FT-1 is a standard green backlit where as the FCT-2 is in full color. In general we tend to like the full color more than just the green backlit. Then again, having one color may be enough for you. So besides color is there any real big difference?

The only thing we can see on Amazon is that the FT-1 seems to focus more on guitars where as the FCT-2 is more framed as a tuner for all types of string instruments. It's not that the FT-1 can't be used on other instruments, it just doesn't appear to be as focused on that part.

All in all we don't think you could really go wrong with either tuner. If you are on a budget to the point where $10 makes a difference then the FT-1 would be the one you would want to go with. Otherwise it appears to just come down to preference on how you want to see your tuner visually. Either green backlit or full color.
