While we were recently searching for battery packs for another blog article we happened to come across a brand named AsperX that also makes battery packs. While they don't have a large selection of packs under $20 they do have two listings which is enough for us to chew on and run an analysis to see how good of a brand they are. You know the drill, let's start with the listings and then dive in from there.
First listing is the two pack of the 10000 mAh HYG003 model battery packs. These guys are currently on Amazon for $17.08 and they have a 4.5 star score on over 13,000 ratings.
The second listing is the 10000 mAh AX1023 model battery pack. Currently on Amazon for only $13.96 for the red one and it has a 4.3 star score on over 1,200 ratings. There are other colors that can be had for varying prices.
We ran the listings through Review Meta and Fakespot and got split results. Review Meta was reading between 10%-30% of the ratings being suspect which isn't terrible so long as the scores remain the same which they did. Fakespot on the other hand is brutal. They rank the first listing at a C grade and the second listing as a D grade in terms of feedback quality. Fakespot believes the scores should be adjusted much lower.
This is where we'll dig in a bit deeper into the feedback on Amazon and see if they have stuff that can help us. The good news is neither listing has negative traits. Most are positive with handful of neutral. For the first listing, it is rating well on traits like performance, value, quality, and size. On the flip side it's hitting neutral on battery life and connectivity. The second listing didn't fair much better, also hitting neutral on performance, charging, and quality. Some customers were finding the pack wasn't getting the job done.
So in the end what can we say? Well it's tough. On the surface it does look like the products are good and are hitting all the right marks. Except once you dive deeper you start seeing some unflattering parts. There isn't enough evidence to say the brand is bad. We also can't say it's good either. So we'll just split the difference and label the brand as solid. There is enough out there to suggest it does a good job while at the same time you can probably get a better product for the same price. If you do decide to go with AsperX make sure to do a little extra research.
