Chips. That's right chips. That's something we haven't written about yet. Which kind of makes sense, you don't think about chips all the time but you know what there are some really good tasty brands out there. We have come across two that would make for a good comparison blog. Kettle brand and Tyrell's. As usual let's get our two listings as samples and then kick it to Chat GPT to see what we can find out.
First we have Kettle brand. Price can vary by type, we decided to go with the sea salt option as our choice for sample. Currently on Amazon for $3.69 for a 7.5 oz bag. It also as a 4.5 star score on over 490 ratings.
Next we have Tyrell's. Once again price varies depends on flavor, we also went with simple sea salt. Currently $13.96 on Amazon for a 5.3 oz bag and it has a 4.5 star score on over 400 ratings.
So both brands are close in score and ratings. Where they do have a big difference is price. Tyrell's is clearly more expensive. Also what kind of stinks is that the Tyrell's listing doesn't have any prime options right now, so Kettle is not only cheaper it would get to your house way faster. Let's see what Chat GPT has to tell us...
"Kettle Chips and Tyrrell's are both popular brands of potato chips (or crisps in some regions) known for their quality and unique flavors. Here's a comparison between the two:
Kettle Chips:
Thicker Cut: Kettle Chips are known for their thicker cut, giving them a hearty crunch that many consumers enjoy.
Variety of Flavors: They offer a wide range of flavors, including classic varieties like sea salt and vinegar, as well as more unique options such as jalapeno, maple bacon, and honey dijon.
Natural Ingredients: Kettle Chips often use natural ingredients and avoid artificial flavors and preservatives, appealing to health-conscious consumers.
Handcrafted: They are often marketed as being handcrafted or artisanal, which can give them a premium image.
Texture: Due to their thicker cut and kettle-cooked process, Kettle Chips tend to have a more rustic texture compared to some other brands.
Tyrrell's:
Traditional British Brand: Tyrrell's is a British brand known for its traditional and premium approach to potato chips.
Distinctive Flavors: They offer unique flavors such as cider vinegar and sea salt, sweet chili and red pepper, and mature cheddar and chive.
Hand-cooked: Similar to Kettle Chips, Tyrrell's chips are often marketed as being hand-cooked, which can add to their appeal.
Farm-to-Table Concept: Tyrrell's emphasizes its farm-to-table concept, highlighting the use of locally sourced ingredients.
Ultimately, the choice between Kettle Chips and Tyrrell's often comes down to personal preference in terms of flavor, texture, and any specific dietary considerations. Both brands have a strong following and are known for their quality products."
Good breakdown by the AI. From where we are sitting it seems pretty clear. There would need to be something special about Tyrell's that would make you want to go with them over Kettle brand consistently. If Tyrell's has that specific flavor or crunch that you love that you can't get anywhere else then that is the brand you want to go with. If on the other hand a chip is a chip to you then Kettle brand is what you would want based on price and convenience.
