Raycon has recently become a very poplar brand in the earbud space. It makes sense then that they start to try their hand at other products like speakers. Well it just so happens they do have a bluetooth speaker under $20. How does it stack up against a brand that specializes in speakers but is more expensive? Say the JBL Go 3? We'll let's run a quick analysis and see what we can find out. But first let's see the products in question.
First we have the Raycon Everyday Speaker. Currently on Amazon for $19.99 and it has a 4.4 star score on over 500 ratings.
Then we have the JBL Go 3. Currently on Amazon for $29.88 and it has a 4.8 star score on over 33,000 ratings.
We ran the listings through Review Meta and we got a little bit of bad news on the Raycon. WHile the JBL passed just fine, the Raycon did have a little nit of discrepency that pulled down it's score slightly, from a 4.4 to 4.3. Granted while not horrible, it certainly does not help Raycons case as the gap in feedback between the two continues to grow.
So the question now becomes is there something else besides the feedback score that could score a point or two for the Raycon. The price gap is $10, which is a fair point. While $10 is not all the money in the world, that can be a big difference when it comes to decicing to spend money on something like a speaker. The Raycon does claim that they have a 11 hour playing time where the JBL claims 5 hours of play time on a single charge. Asuming that is true, that is a strong feather in the Raycon cap.
In the end it's hard for us to confidently say if the sub $20 option is the better way to go. JBL's feedback is hard to ignore and that increase in quality could be argued is worth the extra $10. That said if you are on a budget, the feedback score on the Raycon is good enough that we don't think you are going to be buying a lemon.
