If you can believe it, people are still searching for this question on Google. Why did Duke Cannon change the name of the Naval Supremacy soap to Naval Diplomacy instead? First let's get on the same page of what we're talking about and then we'll speculate away.
Duke Cannon has a product called the Big Ass Brick of Soap and it comes in a variety of scents and styles. One of which is a type called Naval Supremacy. Currently on Amazon for $12.99 and it is part of a listing that has good feedback with a 4.7 star score on over 11,000 ratings.
Where it of course gets interesting is that is not always how the package looked. As you can see in the image below, there was a time where the term was supremacy instead of diplomacy.
So why the change? Well if we are to take the information from a reddit thread with any kind of credibility, the name change happened about 3 years ago. One of the users hypothesized that the company probably didn't want to play around with the word supremacy. It's possible they just didn't want to deal with any kind of risk of someone misunderstanding where they are going as a brand. Which if it's the case would make sense. When it comes to your brand, you really can't be too careful. You have to guard that kind of stuff with your life, especially if it becomes successful and more people see it.
Until the day when Duke Cannon makes an announcement of why they changed the name, we'll simply have to go with whatever speculation is out there. That said we have heard the products are good and if you are looking for more duke cannon stuff under $20, click the button below.
